Solutions and Core Values
Why Do We Need a New Protocol?
💡 Solution: Butterfly Protocol
Butterfly is a decentralized social protocol of “offline Bluetooth Mesh + on-chain connection proofs.” We address legacy problems through a differentiated stack.
🧩 Core Solution Architecture
Users' smartphones continuously broadcast and scan nearby devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Unlike traditional apps that rely on internet infrastructure, Butterfly leverages smartphones' edge computing capabilities to build a censorship-resistant, serverless, offline-available Hyper-local physical social network.
Achieve beyond-line-of-sight communication through store-and-forward.
If A wants to send a message to C but C is not within A's direct Bluetooth range, the message is first sent to B within range. B stores the message and then forwards it to other nodes within B's range, rippling outward until the message "hops" into C's hands.
In this model, each user (their phone) is both an endpoint for communication and a relay node for the network.
The network is the users themselves, not a centralized server.
💎 Core Value Proposition
1. Revaluing Real Connections
The most precious asset on Earth is the connection between people. It has never been truly valued. We are building a protocol to give it the value it deserves.
Through Proof of Connection (PoC), users can generate verifiable, encrypted interaction credentials. These credentials are not only the foundation of Social Mining , but also the cornerstone for building Web3 Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and on-chain reputation systems.
2. Privacy and Sovereignty
End-to-end encryption gives users control of Web3 sovereign identity. By leveraging the decentralized nature of Bluetooth Mesh networks and the consensus mechanism of Proof of Connection, Butterfly returns social capital (Social Capital) truly to the users.
3. Verification of Real Interactions
The core innovation, “Proof of Connection,” is the first to convert offline real-world interactions into on-chain verifiable assets.
🎯 Use Cases
Seekers
Singles aged 18–35 who are tired of fake photos on Tinder and want to find real dates or new friends in real life (bars, libraries).
Professionals
Sales managers, freelancers, exhibitors. Need efficient business card exchange and proof that they have "actually met" a major client (PoC as endorsement).
Explorers
Travelers, digital nomads. Often in network-restricted environments (on planes, roaming abroad) and need a local communication tool that doesn’t require the internet.
B2B Integration (PoA)
Provide SDKs for music festivals and conferences. By deploying fixed Butterfly Beacon nodes, event organizers can automatically airdrop PoC badges (similar to POAP) to all users within range.
